Hi and welcome to my site, Gavin's BBQ World!

I’m Gavin and I live in the UK and thank you – you have just landed on my website which is all about the beloved barbecue or BBQ as a lot of people refer to them these days. Ever since I can remember I have had a fascination for fire & food – so I guess it was only natural that my passion would turn out to be BBQ’ing!  If you didn’t already know us Brits are mad about BBQ’s – it’s probably because we have so few guaranteed sunny days that we throw ourselves fully into the occasion.

When I first went to Australia many years ago when I was just seventeen, I was lucky enough to spend a whole year over there (my dad and his second wife Pat, my brother David and sister Debbie  had emigrated there) I saw firsthand how often the Australians had BBQ’s – yes even my Christmas Day lunch was a Baaarby (Australian pronunciation J)! Because their weather is so predicable – planning outdoor eating is so easy, in fact the hardest part is finding shade from the searing sun…

You see it’s not just about the way you cook the food, nor the way what you use to cook it with, not even how you prepare the food – it’s all about the ‘total experience’.

It’s about exciting your senses with the smoky smell, the crackling sound, the magical vision and experiencing the great outdoor life with friends and family.

A BBQ turns a great get together into a day to remember. There are so many food types you can BBQ, both savoury and sweet and no matter what your palette likes it can and will be all catered for within the surreal world of the BBQ.

I am seriously thinking about setting up a UK BBQ Club – where like minded people could get together and share ideas and enjoy a fantastic day- this type of event can get very competitive and often brings out the best in people. It would be video, well the highlights and then added to this site.  Do you know how many ways you can make a Pimms? Answer is lots ( makes a great long cold drink on a summers afternoon). And for those who could not make it to teh actual event, they can video and send in their day – it could be like a YouTube specialist website. lol.
